This project was developed by SAGE in partnership with Southern Futures and Quality LinCS (our neighbors) Local Community Partnerships.
It was designed for middle school students interested in exploring the advanced automation industry and learning about a broad range of training and employment pathway options.
Students spent a half day in the SAGE workshops and heard first-hand from several professionals working in different occupations about their school to work experiences.
Thanks to the SAGE 'story tellers' who were;
Damian Jolley - Manufacturing Intelligence
Matt Boyer - Robotics
Steve Griffin - Safety
Rob McDonald - PLC & SCADA
Michael Ottens - CAD
Andrew Kirkby - Trade Apprenticeships
As part of this experience, students have produced posters to promote some of the occupations they heard about on the day, and a competition was held for the best.
Congratulation to the winners of the poster competition;
Jed Dobre (Reynella East High) - Manufacturing Intelligence
Belinda Hanns (Immanuel College) for her poster promoting Trade Apprenticeships. Belinda made her poster from plastic and metal off cuts - making a real impression with our judges.
Thanks to Peter Dawson and all the other SAGE Automation staff for their involvement in this project. Many thanks also to our judges -
Ross Bensley, Chair of Southern Futures and
Tony Curtis, Manager of the DECS Trade Schools of the Future.
