The role of each Industry Roundtable is to facilitate the collection and interpretation of data sets that inform their industry's projected career pathways and job opportunities, together with the knowledge and skill sets that will equip young people to successfully transition into their industry.
Each Industry Roundtable has 6 - 8, highly regarded and well known people who are industry leaders in their field, with a passion for their industry and supporting young people to access career pathways at all levels.
In conjunction with Community Partnerships @ Work Inc and each of the Industry Skills Boards, this information will provide the rationale and the focus for an ongoing dialogue with education and training providers in the Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu region to ensure their programs are aligned to industry needs.
To quote a member of the Food, Tourism & Hospitality Roundtable;
"For us as a business the Roundtable initiative means that we as industry representatives can have some actual input into the vocational education and training delivered by schools and training providers.
Our business has learned that we have to go back to basics, hiring for attitude and then, train for skill and we breed a culture of multi-skilled staff. I believe every employer has an obligation to employ and train apprentices and young people, and we need to help
schools and training providers understand the skills and attitudes we want them to give our future employees".
